A Call to Action

The world is a scary place. According to AP News, hate crimes in the United States is at the highest it has ever been. The streets are dangerous. We live in a world where white supremacist groups can walk and march freely on the streets without retribution, but when BIPOC do the same, demanding to not be murdered, they are villainized and attacked. I saw some hope, with Joe Biden elected as president of the United States. Not the candidate I would have chosen myself, but I still believe it is positive that the majority of the country voted for him. But with this, we have to be cautious of normalcy. Yes things may be returning back to “normal”, but what does normal actually mean? Trump in the White House did not create racism, or any other form of discrimination. Yes, there is a rise of hate crimes, but Trump brought those to the surface after they had been hiding under a liberal blanket. The Black Lives Matter movement was created under President Obama, there was a need for racial equality when there was a black man in office. So a reminder, just because Trump is out of office, just because our Vice President is black and Indian, the fight is not over. Racial injustice still stands in this country, and we must stand against this,
